About The Fund

Since 2009, Parkwalk has backed cutting-edge innovation developed by some of the brightest minds in the UK, across sectors such as quantum computing, AI, digital health and life sciences. Parkwalk is the UK’s leading growth EIS Fund manager, having invested in over 180 companies, with over 70 exits to date and consistent deployment.

Northern Gritstone invests in innovative businesses in the North of England, primarily spinning out from the Universities of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield — institutions that are pushing the envelope of research and evolving new technologies. The Fund has attracted co-investor funding of over £360m, and is chaired by Lord Jim O’Neill.

*Please note: Investments must be held for 3 years to achieve all 5 tax reliefs. Tax reliefs are dependent upon an investor’s circumstances. We strongly suggest that you seek specialist tax advice. Tax benefits above are as at March 2024. Loss relief reduces the impact of a loss but does not eliminate it entirely.

Northern Universities Venture Fund

Northern Gritstone holds preferred partnership status with these universities through multi-year agreements and also backs early-stage science and innovation companies across the North of England outside of these universities.

Since making its first investment in May 2022, NG has invested and committed £65 million into 32 companies, attracting co-investor funding of £301 million. The result is a combined £366 million of investment into IP-rich science and technology businesses located in the North of England over the last 3 years*.

The Fund utilises the tax reliefs of the government’s EIS and SEIS schemes where applicable.

*Committed and invested capital deployed by Northern Gritstone and co-investors into companies based in the North of England since the inception of Northern Gritstone.
